About Us

Founded in 1996, the Columbia Heights/Shaw Family Support Collaborative (CH/SFSC) is a community-based anchor institution.

Although CH/SFSC has historically focused on services to its namesake communities -- the Columbia Heights and Shaw neighborhoods of Ward 1 of Washington, D.C. -- in recent years we have expanded to meet identified needs throughout the rest of Ward 1, as well as in Wards 2 and 4. We also provide technical assistance and training to community local and national nonprofit organizations.

Our Mission is to support families in their efforts to stay connected and strong -- through family services, community capacity-building and advocacy efforts.

In our Vision, we see our economically and socially diverse city neighborhoods being safe, green, and secure areas where families are equipped to meet their needs, and where children and youth of all colors grow and thrive together.

We provide direct services to families and help build the capacity of the target communities of Columbia Heights and Shaw, as well as other neighborhoods across Washington, D.C.

Our direct services are bilingual (Spanish/English) and include:

We also work to build the capacity of our non-profit and agency partner organizations through:
