Training

In 1998, CH/SFSC introduced a new family intervention model to the District of Columbia – Family Group Decision Making.

Under the leadership of now-Executive Director Penny Griffith, we began to coordinate and facilitate Family Group Conferences, and eventually added solution-focused brief therapy to provide deeper family engagement.

The success and expansion of this intervention led to a demand for professional development and training in this model among community partners serving families throughout the city. We currently offer training in the coordination and facilitation of Family Group Conferences, solution-focused brief therapy, and gang prevention and intervention.

We have provided these trainings for professionals across the District of Columbia from both the private and public sector, and have led workshops and training session throughout the United States and abroad.

FY 2010 Accomplishments

Looking forward: 2011

In order to expand our capacity, we will be searching for funding to further develop and standardize training curriculums. Our goal in FY 2011 is to formalize our partnership with the Solution-Focused Brief Therapy Association, and to become a regional training center for solution-focused brief therapy.
